Melanie Ellery is a contemporary artist based in Vancouver, BC. She has an education in Illustration and has worked as a graphic designer and advertising Art Director. Melanie realized she needed to nurture her own, authentic, creative soul and found an art studio. This was a turning point—making her art the priority by having a dedicated place to be free to create, quench her artistic thirst and sometimes get really messy.
Melanie’s abstract paintings are process-driven, intuitive and spontaneous. She allows the work to go where it may, then steps in to control its resolution–each mark and brushstroke informing the next. Melanie’s paintings are alive with vibrant colour, shape, pattern and mark-making.
“I aspire to create art that is dynamic, joyful and evocative.”
Supporting fellow artists is important to Melanie. She writes a weekly post on Instagram called #ArtCrushWomen, featuring a female artist she admires and promotes. Melanie is delighted to be an active member of the Artist Collective, “13 Feet Off The Ground” an is represented by Galerie Bloom in Montreal, Canada.
